THE HUMAN VOICE
The Roy Hart Theatre group, began in London and has been based in France since 1974. It is internationally renowned for its work on exploring and developing the full range of the human voice. Course leaders for Roy Hart Theatre-London have had many years of training with the Roy Hart approach to freeing the human voice.
The approach to vocal exploration developed by Roy Hart continues to have a powerful influence on voice work internationally, in the world of theatre and performing arts.
Our voices provide us with one of our most basic means for expression and communication. Exploring this marvellous instrument not only opens up greater expressivity but can be fascinating and fun. The work helps to release blocked energies and can also lead to the development of a deeper engagement with life.
The production of vocal sound is a complex phenomenon involving not only physiological processes but also the world of emotions and instincts. The roots of the human voice are based in the body and in the spirit, and an exploration of these roots can reveal vocal colours, textures and dynamics of an often surprisingly powerful expressivity.
Added to this is the fact that producing vocal sound has a two-way effect. Not only does it communicate with the listener, but the vocalist also can be physically affected by the sound produced, in a profound and liberating way.
